The short version. Mimeo does not collect any data about you, and does not share any data with anyone. There is no account to create and no sign-in.
Your scans, the text extracted from them, and the folders you file them in are created on your device and stay on your device. Mimeo does not upload them, back them up, or transmit them anywhere.
None. Mimeo does not collect, transmit, or store personal data on any server. There is no account system, no sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no third-party tracking of any kind.
The developer has no access to your documents and no way to obtain them.
Everything Mimeo produces is written to the app's private storage on your phone or tablet:
This data is readable only by Mimeo. Uninstalling the app removes all of it. Any file you have deliberately exported or shared to another app is outside Mimeo's control from the moment you send it, and is governed by that app's own terms.
Camera. Required to photograph the pages you are scanning. The camera is used only while you are actively capturing a page. Mimeo does not record video or audio and does not access the camera in the background.
Internet. The installed app carries the internet permission. It is not used to send your documents anywhere. Because that sits oddly alongside the word "offline", the next section explains exactly where the permission comes from and what does and does not travel over the network.
If you inspect Mimeo's installed permissions you will find android.permission.INTERNET. That is accurate, and it is worth explaining plainly.
Android merges the permissions declared by every library an app includes. Mimeo includes components published by Google, among them:
Each of those declares the internet permission for its own purposes, so the merged app declares it too. The permission comes from those libraries; it is not used by Mimeo to send your documents anywhere.
What this means in practice: page capture and text recognition run on your device. Your scans are not uploaded, not processed remotely, and not transmitted to the developer or to any third party. What does travel over the network is limited to Google's own operation of the components it publishes — completing a purchase through Google Play, and Google Play services maintaining the components it provides.
Mimeo is free to use with a page allowance. A single optional one-time purchase removes that limit and unlocks text recognition and folders. It is not a subscription and it does not recur.
All payment processing is handled by Google Play. Mimeo never sees or stores your payment card, billing address, or any other payment detail. Google's handling of that information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
The only thing Mimeo records is a flag on your device indicating that the unlock has been purchased, so the app knows to stay unlocked.
Mimeo is a general-purpose document utility and is not directed at children. Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children either.
Because nothing leaves your device, there is no account to close and no server-side records to request. You are in full control:
A purchase made through Google Play is tied to your Google account, not to data held by this app, and can be restored on a new device from within Mimeo.
If this policy changes, the revised version will be published at this address with a new effective date. Material changes affecting how data is handled will be reflected in the app's Google Play Data safety declaration at the same time.
